SE Controls have chosen to support McMillan Cancer Support with funds raised during their 2011 social events. The highlight of this year’s social calendar takes place during the 15th to 17th of July with a 127 mile bike ride along the length of the Leeds – Liverpool canal.
Organiser Mark Hargreaves, Commercial Manager, Northern Division, comments, “We have run previous events this year such as, a ‘cake bake’, a ‘book exchange’ and a ‘wedding quiz’. The forthcoming charity bike ride will be the biggest event to date and I expect that we will raise over £3,000 for the charity. Beginning in Leeds and traveling through Skipton, East Lancashire and Merseyside, with stopovers in Barnoldswick and Wigan, a gruelling ride is promised through some of West Yorkshire and Lancashire’s most beautiful landscapes. A total of 13 determined riders will need to strike camp each evening and it is hoped that the weather will remain favourable.
Mark adds, “We’re not planning any fancy send-offs or receptions at the finish, but we expect colleagues, friends and family will be joining us somewhere on route to mop brows, soothe aching muscles and help us keep refreshed!”
