CELOTEX INSULATION FITS THE BILL AT NEW DONCASTER NHS CENTRE

The £6.5m NHS Health Centre in Doncaster town centre is providing residents with vastly improved healthcare services from a new state-of-the-art community facility – designed and built to excellent environmental standards. With low environmental impact and long-term thermal efficiency key to the project’s strong ‘green’ credentials – Celotex CW4000 cavity wall insulation proved the perfect solution to complete the building’s high performance thermal envelope.

Delivered by Morgan Sindall through the Local Improvement Finance Trust (LIFT) procurement initiative, the building has been designed to incorporate high environmental principles during the build process and throughout its lifetime thermal performance. To achieve these environmental standards, over 1,000m2 of Celotex CW4000 – specifically designed for partial fill cavity wall applications – was specified in a thickness of 50mm.

Celotex CW4000 provides a lightweight, simple insulation solution for partial fill cavity wall applications and offers enhanced thermal performance in cavity air spaces compared to typical PIR solutions. Available in a range of thicknesses from 25mm to 100mm, it has been proven to reduce heating needs, carbon emissions and energy costs, whilst delivering better U-values and thinner solutions. Providing its suitability to meet stringent Building Regulation, CW4000 is BBA certified and Ofgem approved. With an excellent lambda of 0.022W/mK, it can deliver 100% more thermal efficiency than many mineral fibre products, and unlike mineral wools and phenolic foams, Celotex CW4000’s closed cell structure is hydrophobic which means it does not absorb water, so the thermal performance and integrity of the product will be retained over time.

Celotex CW4000 achieves a low environmental impact through its BRE Approved Environmental Profile. It has also been awarded an A+ Rating when compared to the BRE Green Guide, signifying a 15% improvement in environmental impact when compared to typical PIR – making it the ideal choice to achieve the building’s environmental targets.

The specification and installation of Celotex CW4000 insulation has ensured that the stunning new health centre will not only provide a welcoming environment and much-needed healthcare facilities for the residents of Doncaster, but also deliver exceptional energy efficiency for many years to come.
