Welding family ties

Fabrication and welding experts, Avomech Ltd, have been trading since 1997 with complete customer satisfaction their main aim.

Allan Parrock founded Avomech out of necessity – he needed to spend more time at home. His previous job took him all around the world, but this jet set existence didn’t gel easily with family life, so Allan made the fateful decision to go it alone.

The company hasn’t looked back since, acquiring more family members along the way – Allan’s son and brother, both named Richard. “I like to refer to them as ‘Little Dick’ and ‘Big Dick’,” says Allan.

With expertise gained over decades in the industry Avomech’s experienced workforce can produce a wide range of products including light and heavy fabrications, with all welders coded to B- EN -287-1:2004. But along with fabrications, Avomech have branched out to offer repairs, refurbishment and improvements to fork lift trucks along with refurbishing and maintaining all types of dock levellers whether it be hydraulic or manual loading.

“From my experience working with previous companies, I know how important it is to offer a range of services,” says Allan. “It’s no good concentrating on just one aspect, such as fabrications, we have to diversify – particularly in the current challenging economic climate.”

He’s not one to sit around and just wait for the orders to come in. He prefers a more proactive approach. “You don’t get any where by just sitting in the office waiting. You’ve got to get out there and meet your potential clients. Cold calling is not a problem to me. If I can get face-to-face with a possible customer, I know I can convince the majority of them to consider working with us!”

Based in Bristol, the Avomech team cover the whole of the South West of England, and the Midlands.
