Nationwide Asbestos Removal Supplies

For over 30 years SMH have designed and manufactured equipment specifically for the decontamination industry both in Europe and worldwide.

The company specialises in supplying equipment and products to the asbestos removal contractor, and other specialists involved within the power generation, nuclear, chemical and biological industries.

Formed in 1970 as GRP Polyester Plastic moulders, SMH began the manufacture of decontamination units in 1984 in South Shields. The company now operates nationally from 9 local depots and SMH France – formed in 2005 – offers the full SMH business model for Europe.

Beginning with manufacturing equipment for sale and hire SMH have expanded into offering the full range of decontamination containment products including full respiratory protection, masks, coveralls, gloves, head and foot protection. They offer all the site set up of enclosures and ancillary needs that a contractor requires, SMH is a true ‘one-stop-shop’ for the decontamination industry.

It is widely accepted that SMH offer the best products within the industry and it is essential that these products can be maintained, therefore they endeavour to provide the best after sales service providing full servicing, repairs and testing facilities locally.

SMH have trained engineers at all the depots; these depots not only offer a local sales contact, but full stock holding of all products and consumables, a local collection and delivery point, but most importantly a local hire, service, testing and repair facility. So wherever a client is operating they have a local depot nearby to keep them working. All depots offer the same product range and a very high level of service.

With a full design and manufacture facility SMH can offer custom made products to meet a client’s individual requirements, just discuss with the factory manager or local branch manager.

The full range of SMH decontamination units have been designed and built to exceed the requirements of the asbestos removal regulations; European customers can be confident that all of the units are TuV and RDW approved.

When designing the decontamination units it is essential that they are durable, easy to manoeuvre on site and easily cleaned. They are constructed using white insulated GRP polyester panels, which are extremely strong and robust against the majority of damage. All the moulded spoilers, lockers, internal water tanks, wash hand basins and bench seats are also made by SMH from GRP Polyester Plastic making them easily cleaned and waterproof.
