AGB Steel Products Ltd based in Glasgow have built up an unenviable reputation through the construction industry for services and innovation throughout the last five years.
Originally trading as Adam G. Brown & Co. and founded in 1888 the company changed hands in 2005 and was renamed AGB Steel Products Ltd by Colin Tait as Chairman and Brian Garvey as Managing Director. The ambitious pair set themselves a task to turn AGB into the most efficient and reliable manufacturer and supplier of a range of steel based products within the agricultural commercial and industrial construction markets.
Our strength first of all lies in our range of products and service states Brian Garvey, MD. “We are a one stop shop for customers who are constructing a steel building of any type. We produce a full range of galvanised steel purlins, a range of roof and wall profiled sheeting including anti-condensation fleece lined sheets, vented & curved sheets. We also fabricate flashings, gutters, louvers etc. and through long standing relationships with our suppliers we supply Kingspan Composite Panels, fixings and other accessories.
“We have an experienced loyal group of employees at our factory in the East End of Glasgow, which has a long standing tradition within the steel industry and we have invested heavily during the last couple of years in new plant and machinery.
“As part of the ongoing development of AGB in the North East of Scotland a Sales and Distribution depot was established at Fyvie in Aberdeenshire. This depot caters for the needs of a wide range of contractors as well as individuals who are carrying out their own work. We carry quite a range of stock items at Fyvie and have a daily delivery service to most outlying areas. We have also redeveloped our trade counter at our Glasgow factory to cater for all needs great and small. We can provide technical expertise through our experienced sales team at all times.
“An exciting innovation story showing the progress at AGB is the creation of a Lightweight Steel Kit Design and Build software package during the last 18 months. By discussing with customers and architects the current trends within the construction industry we decided that this was a need for cost effective lightweight steel constructions that were easy to erect and did not require deep foundations.
By working with a software house that had experience in this area we developed a CAD based Design & Build Package within which all components were approved by Structural Engineers. A new company Bridgeton Steel Structures (BSS) was formed to promote the Design & Build Service through approved Distributors.
“The BSS service is quick, efficient and unique. When we receive the building parameters and requirements we can provide a quotation and drawings within one hour. When face to face with the client we can provide this information on the spot. Once a quotation has been accepted the kit building can be delivered anywhere within the UK within three weeks.”
