Biomass solutions leader Econergy welcomes RHI

The Government’s £850m Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme finally launched towards the end of 2011, guaranteeing a 20-year payment for every unit of heat generated by biomass boilers, prompting a tidal wave of orders for industry leaders Econergy.

In order to meet energy targets of 15% of all energy consumed by renewables by 2020, the UK Government has introduced the RHI – the first of its kind in the world. It’s expected to increase green capital investment by £4.5 billion up to 2020, stimulating the market in renewable heat.

Econergy has been at the forefront of biomass heating solutions since 1999, designing, supplying and installing complete biomass heating systems for both the public and private sector markets. Over 500 working installations have been supplied with wood chip boilers, pellet boiler and log boilers since the start up.

Centrica plc (British Gas) made a significant investment in Econergy in 2009, acknowledging the company’s reputation as being the leader in its field and its growth potential.

Econergy delivers commercial projects to the end customers direct or via contractors, led by their regionally based project management team. Their national service team with regional service engineers provides UK wide support. Domestic boilers are installed and serviced via an extensive network of installers.

Describing the launch as the single most important development in the renewable heat industry to date, Econergy MD Chris Miles, said RHI would grow the market substantially. Econergy are currently recruiting heavily to meet the upturn in demand and have plans for substantial expansion in the short term.

The RHI is a guaranteed 20-year payment, for every unit of heat generated by your biomass boiler. So not only are you saving money on your heating bills by using a lower cost fuel, you will be paid for being green as well.
