AST Roofing (Bournemouth) Ltd has recently completed the installation of 430m² of Solex roof integrated solar heating to the Wellington Leisure centre near Telford.
The existing South facing elevation of the swimming pool roof was stripped of its concrete tiles; they were replaced with the Solex system. Solex Roofing uses lightweight, patented, solar black absorber sited under toughened glass slates or polycarbonate tiles. It does away with the need for conventional flat panels or evacuated tube solar collectors, which are unsightly, bulky and expensive. The result is solar heated water that is used for the swimming pool and underfloor heating of the centre and accompanying offices or stored in boreholes using the ICAX skid system.
